A Global Phenomenon - Social Media

Connecting and engaging with the world.

Capturing Attention in Social Media

The importance of connecting to the masses

I hear you loud and clear.

Social media has taken “connection” to a new level. Connecting with a viewer in terms of “likes” is important for a social media platform to stand out from the billions of social network users on the World Wide Web. The more a viewer returns and more followers are given their attention, the phenomenon continues. Being visual is one great way to influence attention to a platform. Research has shown that almost 85% of interaction rates on Facebook have increase due to infographics.
Creating a collage, adding a caption to an image or even sharing an image that correlates to your subject matter is all that it takes to boost a website’s rating and continued support (Rampton, 2014).

Social media engages followers because of subject and content. Increasingly, individuals are seeking new platforms. Be open to fresh ideas like accepting ALL new connections as it presents itself to those that are new to your social network.  Be liberal about what filters into your blog and respond to each one. Doing this opens up engagements. After that time period is done, go back to normal filtering. You will see that sometimes connections to a bigger audience may influence followers and great communication (Lumba, 2016).

Another way to strengthen the impact and gain viewers’ attention with social media is to create better visibility by understanding the content of your writing and know what to publish. What better way to do this by aligning your content development with social media metrics and goals. This is done by monitoring and generating traffic to your blog and looking at the number or unique viewers visit your site. Creating a following should be measured by the number of comments made on larger social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter (Hemley, 2013).

Challenges - Three strategies for gaining viewer attention in social media

Attention everyone, I have arrived!

Some challenges that most bloggers will face is reflect in cost, engagement, retaining engagement, and networking like crazy. It is important that your readers are interested in your subject matter, especially when there is a back and forth communication about that particular subject. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and it is healthy to have an open discussion forum. Strategies in promoting continuous conversations involving the website or social media with other individuals that represent other websites about who you are, what your blog is about and providing ways to contact you can potentially win a customer for life. Putting yourself out in the World Wide Web and networking is a great way to be recognized and create peer business relationships (Lumba, 2016).

Another challenge with social media is choosing between a global and local strategy. It is important to have a well thought out plan to determine which direction would gain viewers’ attention; either go global or keep it local. Careful planning has to take place in managing how to cross over to the global spectrum of social media. With respect to global strategies, a guarantee of consistency across all channels is a must. Otherwise, more would find engagement better to cultural similarities than outside of the comfort of what is familiar and known (Gilliland, 2016).

Ensuring consistency and conversation in a social media platform is essential. It is undeniable that social media is a broadcasting platform. What is most important in gaining media attention to promote products or campaigning branding strategies. This is to ensure that your subject matter is both relevant and valuable. Some of the challenges that come with getting your audience to retain attention by finding creative ways to reflect the value in what is offered. Make sure that your purpose comes to life through the media and at the same time engage in conversation; communicate in a personable way (Gilliland, 2016).

Maintaining Engagement in Social Media

Hypnotized by social media engagement.

Defining secure engagement in social media and its importance

Engagement is important in social media (Arruda, 2013).

One way of securing engagement in social media is to have giveaways or contests. Most engagement involve active participation. A platform that provides this kind of energy can be well received, especially when the prize is expensive and popular and results in recognition. This can be done simply by filling out an entry form, like a page or share their favorite story from the website (Rampton, 2014).

Engagement - Three effective strategies in social media

Be YOU.

Personal branding is vital. Be yourself. It makes websites and the products that is represent feel more personable and believable. This also provides authenticity – who you are and what you represent in real life. On the web, there are fewer opportunities that evoke emotion and connection to its audience. This compared to how the audience would normal act in the really world. By associating branding and social media; adding personality to words, what is most valued as a subject matter, defining writing styles and interest can be factors in making real connections to the masses (Tobak, 2017)).

Web browsers use the internet and do over a billion searches a day. Prospective clients, employees, businesses, hobbyists and many more individuals connect with other individuals with shared interests. It is essential to stand out. By focusing on your target audience and providing meaningful information is a great strategy for social media engagement. Connecting in the virtual world about branding, it is necessary to be visible in a sea of like websites and subject matter. By standing out, success can be the perfect result (Arruda, 2013).

Consistency in utilizing one platform is important. Social media works best as consistency build reputation, recognition and if successful at both, a strong memorability. Website and social media should create consistency by routine, adding media activities or even threading stories. As a result, branding interaction can build strong relationships with the audience. In alignment with consistency, updating status in different platforms will show currency and be followed (Arruda, 2013).
